Andi is one of our special needs pups. She is a Min Pin mix that is approximately one year old and weighs about 13 pounds. Andi was one of the most fearful dogs I have ever seen when she came to us. We believe that she had lived her entire life on her own and had never had any human interaction. She is now spayed and up to date on all her vaccines and on heartworm preventative. Andi is going to need a very special family. She needs someone who is willing to commit to letting her make friends on her own time and who will not try and force her into any type of interaction that she is not ready for. She is crate trained and we believe that she will need to be crated in her new home and taken out for leash walks only, preferably in a fenced in secure back yard in case she somehow slipped out of her collar or harness. She could then be allowed to roam in a small area of the house with her leash attached. Once she is more comfortable she will come out of and go back into her crate by herself which is what she does here. However it took her many weeks to be comfortable enough with us to do that on her own. Because of her fearfulness she would not be appropriate in a home with children. She does get along with other dogs. We have not tested her with cats. We want Andi to have a home of her own but only one that will have the patience required to coax her out of her shell.
